  • Design-Build
  • Occupied space
  • Secured Facility

Department of Defense
$975,000
The communication center is a highly secured data storage complex. This Design-Build renovation project was phased to accommodate the Owner's need to remain operational in and around our work. As the project progressed through the various phases we moved occupied spaces to temporary spaces until the permanent areas were completely renovated. Our main concern was to maintain the use of the building for the workers and the public while simultaneously working to complete the project with the least amount of disruption to the Center.

RME provided temporary protection; demolition of walls and ceilings; new security type full height walls; installation of rough carpentry, doors and frames, and wall guards. We were also responsible for coordinating with the Owner's other trade sub-contractors such as abatement, painting, access flooring, security, fire protection and MEP.

The challenges of this renovation project were working in an occupied building; maintaining the security and operations; and controlling daily access for materials and workers. RME coordinated weekly between our workers, deliveries and the Owner's agenda. Completion of the work was accomplished in accordance with the Owner's requirements.
